May 2026 theme ‘A Pair of Different Sized But Matched Bud Vases’

May 2026 Beginner Theme 1st – Oliver Roden
An offcut (of Ash?) provided the material for these two vases. Corian was used for the contrasting bases.

May 2026 Beginner Open 1st – Alan Thomas
Ash was used for the legs of this stool, with the top being made from a piece of oak kitchen top. Finished with Danish oil.

May 2026 Intermediate Theme 1st – Cally Oldershaw
A pair of matching vases, turned from Idigbo, with additional turned parts using Milliput and pewter. They were friction polished before being finished with micro-crystaline wax.

May 2026 Intermediate Open 1st – Leigh Pawson
A small oak bowl, finished with friction polish to give a high sheen.

May 2026 Advanced Theme 1st – Adrian Needham
Matching designs, but different woods were used to create these vases, which have a wax finish.

May 2026 Advanced Theme 2nd – John French
Themed vases, burnt and then finished with wax, one with a natural edge visible at the top.

May 2026 Advanced Open 1st – John French
A deceptively simple looking natural edge platter made using the crotch of a piece of cherry. Finished with oil.

May 2026 Master Theme 1st – Paul Williamson
A pair of vases, created as simple hollow form in two parts and finished with wax.

May 2026 Master Theme 2nd – Stephen Evans
A pair of vases, one in silver birch, the other an unknown wood. Live edge at the top.

May 2026 Master Open (Joint) 1st – Stephen Evans
An interesting ‘peek-a-boo’ box, made from various woods connected with resin. A wax finish was applied to complete it.
